Job Title:  Business Development Manager 

Reporting to: Head of Customer Initiatives & Strategy

Role Purpose:

Define & build new business propositions that generate new revenue, improved profitability and/or customer engagement and satisfaction, in line with the House of Fraser Customer strategy

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Identify, shape and develop new business ideas that deliver incremental revenue/profit or cost savings
  • Facilitate and generate a funnel of new business ideas, assessing and filtering them based on feasibility criteria
  • Coordinate the Customer team approach to new business development and work with internal teams to source new global partners that can assist in reaching our revenue targets
  • Present to and consult with internal teams on business trends with a view to developing new services, products and distribution channels
  • Seek to identify opportunities to improve multi-channel retail experiences
  • Perform feasibility assessment on new ideas, ensure investments are made based on credible business cases that are aligned to the business and company strategy
  • Prepare business cases that define potential benefits, identifying, analysing and developing options for adding value to House of Fraser. Define comprehensive plans for achieving these benefits, ensuring potential risks are identified and well understood.      
  • Define a feasibility process, that incorporates concepting where appropriate
  • Arrange reporting and analysis to determine the success and ongoing opportunities of new initiatives as well as introducing KPI monitoring
  • Plan the build and introduction of new business propositions, ensuring all resource and capability needs are met, and that business targets can be achieved
  • Execute the build/development of new ideas, ensuring any associated business change needs are identified and managed.
  • Manage and/or sponsor the execution of the build/development phase,  both internally and externally
  • Manage the relationship with 3rd party providers
  • Communicate new initiatives & business improvements to stakeholders within Customer & wider business functions
  • Ensure teams are prepared for transition to new ways of working
  • Monitor and evaluate the benefits derived from new business developments, improving the propositions as appropriate
  • Evolve and grow existing customer propositions across all channels
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the House of Fraser proposition
  • Deliver commercial and customer improving enhancements to propositions and services, exploiting available channels in a consistent and complementary way

Technical skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven track record operating in a Business Development role, working effectively as a member of an integrated functional management team
  • Demonstrable experience of building new business propositions that deliver incremental revenue growth
  • Demonstrable passion for emerging technologies and trends, with experience of exploiting these where applicable
  • Demonstrated success in developing and successfully delivering digital customer propositions and profitable growth
  • Experience of shaping and leading strategic initiatives to deliver business growth and /or efficiency
  • Experience of working in fast paced, high growth, high volume, multi-channel customer focused organisations
  • Commercially astute, experienced in influencing and negotiating with 3rd party suppliers and partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
