Job Title: Content Editor – Beauty

Reporting to: Senior Editor

Role Purpose: We are looking for an exceptional Editor to create and own the Beauty content across the House of Fraser platforms. This role requires a passionate individual who has a keen interest in Beauty and who has excellent industry and product knowledge, can write creatively and bring the commercial requirements of the business to life in an exciting and inspirational manner.

By balancing the overarching creative intent set by the Brand Team and the commercial requirements of the business, you'll create premium content for both campaigns and trading that underpins our brand positioning. Technical knowledge and the ability to work with different digital systems is a must, as is the capacity to work under pressure to deadlines.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:      

  • Own, concept, write and curate the Beauty content across digital platforms, including App, emails, organic and paid social media, the content hub and print editions
  • Pitch ideas to the Senior Editor that underpin the content and social strategy and meet business requirements
  • Work with the Beauty Team and Beauty Marketing Manager on producing relevant campaign content and implementing weekly changeouts on the Beauty hub
  • Create on-brand social imagery to support key beauty launches
  • Use multiple CMS systems to upload content onto the live site and be responsible for ensuring the content goes live error free to the key deadlines set
  • Work with the wider Beauty Team to input key product and brand launches into a content and social schedule that reflects the commercial priorities in a creative manner
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business and external brands and clients
  • Work with the SEO Manager to ensure all content created is SEO optimised and meets search requirements
  • Attend meetings with brands, merchandising and buying teams to create relevant content
  • Work with the House of Fraser external creative agency to pitch and brainstorm ideas for creative concepts and stories
  • Monitor and analyse content and social performance to inform future strategic decisions
  • Keep up-to-date with competitor activity, blogs, social media, print magazines and industry developments to ensure House of Fraser is innovative and competitive and you have a strong grasp of key trends and influencers
  • Coach, develop and train the Editorial Assistant, Fashion & Beauty
  • Represent the company at various events as required in a professional manner (press/ launches)
  • Assist the Content Producer with category specific trading content requirements, Terms & Conditions, customer services pages and any ad hoc requests when required

Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Experience of creating content on a retailer’s or magazine’s digital platform
  • Proven copywriting skills and ability to sub own work
  • Experience of creating social media content
  • Experience of working in a multi-brand and/or multi-category environment (retail or a magazine)
  • Able to manage own workload effectively to meet business deadlines
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively to different teams and internal and external clients
  • Passionate about retail/beauty and the latest trends
  • Desire to work within the eCommerce sector, specifically the Beauty category
  • A creative thinker with the ability to understand commercial requirements
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with key stakeholders across the business at all levels
