Accountable for the writing, researching, planning, quality control and checking of fashion specific aspirational and thoughtful premium contemporary editorial stories, organic social posts and content for all our owned and earned spaces including digital, web, apps, emails, organic social, POS/Windows, The Journal & other publications/communications.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Accountable for writing, researching, planning, quality control and pre-go live checking of all relevant and fabulous editorial, organic social, email, publications, POS/Windows and all other owned and earned copy and content to support fashion across all channels and routes to market
  • Responsible for the overall quality control and editorial content stories and proof reading/ QA from a brand tone of voice, grammar, writing style and customer experience point of view
  • Work in close collaboration with the Workflow Producer and Editorial Content Lead to ensure the timely and efficient planning, scheduling, delivery and managing content calendars, and all the relevant stories and content get ready for publication on time across all channels and communications points
  • Continually review  efficient and effective ways of working to get new editorial content stories published at pace, with the ability to dynamically respond to relevant news stories and events
  • Work closely with the UX and Digital Design teams to ensure all editorial stories, emails, digital content etc translate into fabulous customer journeys and experiences, and are contextually right – both in length, tone, relevance for the appropriate stage of the customer journey and in light of any customer insights, data analytics, journey mapping and experiences, with a view to continuous improvement and optimisation
  • Ensure all content puts the customers at the heart of everything we do and continually seek out new relevant trends, ideas, stories for us to tell and sell our brand, products, services and experiences
  • Work in close collaboration with your category buying offices and marketing teams to ensure all editorial content supports the overall category, marketing and brand strategy and marketing calendar,
  • Continual seek and pro-actively search for interesting new stories to tell and sell
  • Create social media editorial and content assets for our owned and organic social channels

Skills, know-how and experience. Must have:

  • Passionate and curious about our customers, House of Fraser, Retail and our Brands
  • 2-5 years fashion editorial and social media experience writing about products, categories and brands, or writing for a digital editorial publication
  • Excellent English – preferably degree standard
  • Exceptional proofreading & quality control skills
  • Fabulous storytelling and editorial skills and able to adapt and follow House of Fraser and category/specific brand guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and written/oral presentation and communications skills and CMS/computer and digitally literate, able to upload, publish and manage content
  • An interest and commercial understanding of marketing ROI, measurement and customer engagement, and changing digital media landscape
  • A passion for your category and retail, including photography and imagery to support your editorial stories/social posts
  • Pro-active, willing and able to crack on and make a difference
  • Fun, friendly team ‘can-do’ player, and ability to work at pace and ‘get cracking’
  • Inquisitive and keen eye to innovate and find new stories to attract new and retain existing customers, and to encourage more frequent visits to stores and digital devices
  • Self starter, able to prioritise and show resilience, be brave, able to constructively challenge to get better stories and content for customers
  • Ability to keep calm, work at pace under pressure, be flexible and able deal with ambiguity and frequent changes / ad hoc requests
  • Excellent planning, admin and organising skills
