The role of the Category Marketing Co-ordinator

Day-to-day category management co-ordination of all 360 campaigns for all your category marketing, supporting and assisting the Category Marketing Specialist, to drive category footfall to stores and qualified traffic to the website/digital devices across all channels and routes to market.  Work collaboratively across category brand partners and with B&M teams, brand, retention & DM marketing specialists, content editors and creative services teams to co-ordinate and administrator the cross channel category marketing calendar, events, experiences and initiatives critical path.  Help your Category Marketing Specialist co-ordinate and organise brand partner relationship meetings and reports, working closely with B&M category teams to organise samples, information and marketing assets (copy, content, campaign imagery etc) and keep administrative tracking and trafficking of calendar changes, supplier funding invoices and quotes, and category/brand partner specific marketing activity and campaign critical paths.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Co-ordinate, update and share the marketing promotional and category calendar and ensure effective communications and briefing/set up of all  campaign activities and event up-dates to relevant departments
  • Co-ordinate the administration of the annual category marketing budget and critical path, working closely with the Category Marketing Specialist
  • Co-ordinate sales and market trend data to support the Category Marketing Specialist, (sales, NCA, etc)
  • Co-ordinate all new category marketing campaign set up and reporting admin to track and measure effectiveness and response
  • Prepare, chase and organise samples requests for campaigns/category events, PR, social
  • Administer the supplier funding invoicing and trackers with category marketing specialist, creative services/editorial content, retail, B&M and finance teams
  • Responsible for compiling the weekly category marketing briefs and report, detailing all the marketing activity taking place in the forthcoming week and ensure the timely and effective communication of events to relevant teams
  • Assist the Category Marketing Specialist, with the day-to-day housekeeping duties, such as researching trends and competitor activity, the sorting of magazines, mood boards, strategy packs and ongoing organisation of filing and the sample cupboard

Skills, know-how and experience.  Must have:

  • Passionate and curious about your category, with a customer centric approach
  • 1-2 years retail category marketing & supplier management experience
  • ‘Can do’ get cracking approach, resilient, flexible and adaptable and able to work at pace in dynamic and constantly changing environment
  • Degree educated, recognised Marketing Qualification, excellent English & Maths
  • Well organised, friendly and excellent attention to detail with great presentation communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand category environment in a multi-channel retail marketing category, with premium brands
  • Good category knowledge and day to day experience helping support, coordinate and administrating effective, engaging, inspiring category marketing campaigns, events, experiences and publications
  • Willingness to work in close partnership and collaboration with brands and able to identify and innovate new     rends and  ideas to help differentiate HoF category campaigns from the competition
