Job Title:  Mid-weight Digital Designer

Reporting to: Senior Digital Design & Production Manager

Role Purpose: To create and publish onsite graphics for promotional messaging, editorial features, brand focus and marketing communications. Ensuring all graphics balance the requirements of the online style guidelines, the offline brand campaign and individual multi-brand values. Reporting to the Senior Digital Design & Production Manager, you’ll be undertaking a varied mix of design work to support regular content refreshes, multichannel campaigns and promotions, across our digital estate. You will need to have a strong passion for design, be a confident communicator, have impeccable attention to detail and be skilled in using the Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Create and implement the House of Fraser seasonal & campaign brand guidelines into an online scheme, considering web best practises.
  • Design and produce digital campaigns to support online initiatives, editorials, emails and animated banners.
  • Create and maintain design templates for onsite and marketing collateral including homepage, landing pages, editorial features, emails and affiliate banners.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Visual Merchandising to understand key brand themes and values
  • Optimise, upload and publish all designed content in accordance with website and online marketing publishing schedules and check updates in multiple test environments.
  • Understand and contribute towards accessibility, customer experience and usability best practise activities, flexing designs for the most profitable outcome
  • Target content to convert visitors to purchasers, using learning from previous designs to determine future styles.
  • Maintain a strong brand identity in the directory, making appropriate amends seasonally.
  • Be an ‘expert customer’ of, and quality assurance for, external agencies and partners in the provision of designs, styles and visual material
  • Support external and social media sites (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Blog, iPhone App, Brand micro-sites, Business Incentives etc…)

Skills and Experience Required:

Required

  • Sound experience of front-end web design
  • Exemplary creative portfolio including editorial features to portray key trends and tips.
  • Thorough, demonstrable knowledge of Photoshop and other appropriate image management/manipulation/optimisation software                                                                                                                 
  • Confident understanding of HTML, especially in respect of image presentation, image mapping and responsive design.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a multi-brand and/or multi-category environment.
  • Experience of a content and/or a digital asset management system (Scene7 would be an advantage)
  • Experience of the disciplines of a multi-stage online environments (development, staging, live)
  • Knowledge of using sketch and other prototyping software.
