The role of Product Manager

To define and execute the roadmap and product backlog for HoF consumer-facing products in your domain/remit, creating world-class experiences that drive audience growth, engagement and improved conversion, attract new customers and keep existing customers coming back.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Accountable for defining and executing the roadmap and product backlog for HoF products to support customer vision and KPIs, underpinned by customer/data insights
  • Work closely with customer experience team to ensure best in class experiences based on human centred design principles
  • Accountable for defining and executing a programme of relevant concepts and Multi-Variant Tests
  • Accountable for the quality of HoF digital products, balancing quality, speed and simplicity
  • Accountable for ensuring engineering teams (inc 3rd parties) are serviced with quality requirements in a timely fashion
  • Accountable for ensuring roadmaps and backlogs balance the needs of all stakeholders, and that benefits are clearly understood
  • Responsible for presenting the roadmap at the Product Council to gain consensus on strategic priorities
  • Contributes to and influences new and existing customer propositions, ensuring they built into roadmaps and backlogs
  • Identify and assess emerging trends, technologies and competitor/sector offerings, building into the product roadmap and backlog as required
  • Measure and track website core KPIs, and prioritise activities accordingly
  • Champion ‘one team’ agile working practices, supporting rapid benefit delivery and autonomous working
  • Manage 3rd party product and services that integrate with the Products

Must have:

  • Provides clear vision and direction for a product, engaging the team to deliver.
  • Ensures an effective understanding of business priorities, adopting recommendations/opportunities to meet that strategy
  • Demonstrates sound and pragmatic judgement, balancing pace, risk and business value to reach decisions which are well informed and actionable
  • Constructively challenges convention and seeks new ways of achieving better results by taking alternative paths, whilst behaving consistently and with professional integrity at all times
  • Understands and champions agile ways of working
  • Prioritisation skills to handle a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Digitally savvy, with proven experience of defining and delivering significant digital product development and growth
  • Technically astute, with good knowledge of engineering processes and frameworks. Able to constructively challenge at a technical design level
  • Analytical mindset, with a passion for identifying issues and understanding ‘why’; able to turn findings into actions
  • Demonstrable passion for emerging technologies and trends, with experience of exploiting these where applicable
