House of Fraser is growing its Engineering discipline. With an initial focus on Customer facing technologies, such as Ecommerce , EPOS and Integration. The Engineering discipline will then develop to cover the full technology landscape at House of Fraser. In 2018 we are growing the Ecommerce Engineering team at House of Fraser.

The Scrum Master will help build new and improve existing web applications in an Agile/Scrum environment and also mentor, coach developers within the team. The Srum Master will have extensive experience on the role of across multiple teams within an agile environment applying agile and lean principles. The Scrum Mater will promote agile practices and facilitate scrum activities while creating a culture where problems can be discussed in an open and transparent way leading towards positive outcomes.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Acting as Scrum Master for Scrum/Kanban teams
  • Organising and facilitating planning, story development sessions, backlog review sessions, estimation sessions, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives
  • Work closely with the Product Owners to ensure sprint backlogs are sufficient and realistically prioritised, acting as an interface between technical teams and Product Owners when needed
  • Removing barriers that block the team so they can deliver high quality working software
  • Empowering the teams to self-organize and become autonomous
  • Driving quality into the development processes
  • Leading continuous improvement and shared learning sessions
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and protecting the team from external pressures
  • Providing internal and external communications that are clear and timely

Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

  • Have extensive experience (3 years or more) playing the Scrum Master role across multiple teams within an agile environment applying agile / lean principles, preferably within ecommerce domain
  • Have skills and knowledge of facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment, self-organisation and ways to increase transparency
  • Experienced with agile transformations, coaching teams and business.
  • Desirable to have Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I) ideally CSP, PSM II and any other relevant agile qualifications and training
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Ensures an effective understanding of business direction, strategies and priorities, opportunities and operational challenges
  • Demonstrates sound and pragmatic judgement, balancing pace, risk and business value to reach decisions which are well informed, rigorous and actionable
  • Leads with determination and drive, taking initiative willingly, acting with both sensitivity and self-assurance to achieve results
  • Is proactive in defining, planning and delivering change to achieve targets and objectives which realise beneficial outcomes
